I heard the song "Live Like We're Dying" today by The Script. Basically the songs tells us how little time we have in a day reminding us "We only got 86, 400 seconds in a day to Turn it all around or to throw it all away...".
Even though I have heard this song a hundred times it got me thinking about.....well, thinking.
Why do we do that so much? Of course we have to think about situations in life but why do we let our thinking turn into over thinking and worrying? Why do we think about things so much that we create more questions which leads to more thinking and more questions and more thinking and so on...and just when we figure out the answer or the solution we decide to think about it some more just to be sure we are right in our thinking. It is a never ending process that when you look at the big picture you see it really gets you nowhere except for stuck.
A few examples:
You are house shopping, you want a 3br 2b yellow house with a white picket fence for $200,000. Guess what, your realtor shows you the perfect 3br 2b yellow house with a white picket fence for $200,000 and tells you they are eager to sell and will probably take a lower offer! Perfect huh?! Just want you wanted but...maybe it isn't...I mean why are they so eager to sell? Are they tired of looking at the color yellow; OMG what if you get tired of looking at yellow and then you have to paint the house and that can be so expensive and what if you cannot afford it and you start to not like your new house because you hate the yellow so bad? Or what if one day you decide to start that home business you have been talking about doing for 20 years and never have, but what if you do and you need a fourth bedroom - then you will have to move again...hmmmm you better think about this some more. So you do, and you either decide to stop questioning and get the house for $192,000 and cross bridges as you come to them or you let someone else get it and you not much longer later realize you should not have let that go when you are settling for the green house across the street from the yellow house that you payed $200,000 for!
Another example:
You have a wedding to attend, your ex will be there with their new "love" you have to lose weight, hide your greys, and find the perfect thing to wear. So you do all of this then the day of the wedding you start thinking...hmmm what if the wind is blowing, the slit in my dress opens a little and my girdle shows--but who cares if my girdle shows what if the new girl he is with sees it and she thinks I have lost weight, I am sucking in and wearing a girdle all because they are there...I mean that is the truth but what if she figures that out! Even worse what if we get there at the same time and since we are both going to want to be seated on the grooms side the usher sits us next to one another...oh no, another horrible thing to think about - what if we are next to each other wearing the same dress except for hers is a 4 and mine is a 6 and I know this because I heard the lady behind us tell her friend when she informed me and the bimbo that our tags were out. Wow - this is not even my wedding day and I am too stressed out - Should I even go?! So either you go to the wedding looking like a million bucks and see the ex with the new love and smile and wave as you see him being seated before her and you remember his lack of manners (one of the million reasons you are not with him) and your fake smile turns into a real one and grows bigger as you wave while you notice you have just been seated next to the grooms oh so handsome cousin OR you don't go and then hear later from those who did how wonderful the wedding was and how you should be so happy you are no longer with that jerk he was hitting on every woman in sight with his girlfriend pretending to be oblivious and happy!
As far as examples, I could go on for days, but I wont--you get my point.
We need to stop thinking so much and just live in the moment and not try to figure out what's in store for the next 60 seconds after this one is over. If we don't we may find our self in an overpriced house or missing out on one of our friends most special days all because we thought about it too much.
Just stop as that song says we only have 86,400 seconds in a day. They will happen whether they happen like we plan or not so just enjoy them and if you have something great in life happening right now cease the moment to enjoy it, not to stop it!

03.02.11
I noticed a friends profile picture the other day was a banner that has the date 03.02.11 on it so I googled the date and found a very interesting campaign!
"Spread the word, to End the word"
The word that the campaign is working to end is the use of the word retard/ed.
Unfortunately, I must admit this is a word that I use often when just joking around with someone or even describing something....but after reading over information on the campaign site and seeing a few of the videos I am working to become more aware of not using the word retarded in a derogatory manner.
In the video below Johnny Knoxville makes a great point - this is not about being politically correct this is about not hurting people! I could care less about not using this word to remain politically correct but I want to avoid it because I never want to hurt anyone.
Think about how often you are out and about and you overhear other peoples conversations, I even catch myself sometimes not paying attention to the person I am talking to in order to hear what the strangers are saying....those people have no idea I am listening just like I have no idea when there are ears around that overhear me saying something, and God forbid, I say "My phone is being so retarded" or something along those lines and I hurt someones feelings that's standing near me.
Regardless, if it is a stranger or not, they cannot help that they have a disability and I in no way want them to feel like I am comparing their disability to my cell phone being dumb.
We have to also remember to be aware not just by the people who have physical traits as Down Syndrome can display, but Autism, Ashberger's and the list goes on of disabilities that are not always visible to the eye-you never know what a person has going on in their life or if they are listening!
Make sense? Watch the video below and maybe that can shed more light. The video is from last year but you can still get the point. If you want to also pledge your support and commit to being more aware of helping to end the use of this word in a derogatory sense then visit the campaign site Spread the Word to End the Word or check out their Facebook Page to find out more!!

Young Love, Strong Love, True Love....
In honor of Valentines day, I am going to tell a Love story that is rather important to me! I do not have too many details, but I will share the ones I was able to get!
Almost 60 years ago in a town known as Hamlet, NC there was an 18 year old young man by the name of Donald riding down the road with one of his friends, just circling a local hot spot in town,
or "cruising" as it was called when I was told the story. As Donald and his friend were cruising, he spotted a group of young ladies walking down the street but only one caught his attention for more than a second! Donald quickly pulled the car over and approached the group and asked the one young lady named Jewell if she would like to go grab a coca~cola and she told him she was only 15 years old so she would need to check with her parents first.
Fortunately, for Donald, and Jewell her parents gave her the go ahead.Donald made his friend get in the back seat so that the pretty young lady could sit beside of him and they hurried off to sip on coca~cola.
These two were married not much longer after this day in the year 1953 and by the year 1962 their family had grown from the two of them to a family seven including five sons! The two were married for 52 years when Jewell passed away leaving behind Donald, her five sons and eleven grandchildren.
In the beginning I mentioned not only was this a love story, but one that is important to me as well...the reason this story is so important to me is that because of those eleven grandchildren that carried on the name of Donald and Jewell....I am number five!
My grandfather told me this story a few weeks before he passed away in 2010 this past summer...I remember one of my favorite parts of the story was when he said, "Faith, I did not have money to buy a hamburger or even that coca~cola but it was love at first sight so I found a way!"
Happy Valentines Day!

Testosterone + Oxytocin= What’s your name again?" = Perfect Example!

Rx of sand soon please.
I have the fever, it is 44 degrees outside and that is just making my fever worse instead of cooling me down! It has happened, a little earlier than normal this year which is not good because it just makes the waiting period even longer but when this fever hits there is no controlling it. I just have to endure the next few months of this cold weather and wait on the warm weather and beach days!
I decided earlier I was just going to get in my car tomorrow after work and go to the beach but then I checked the weather and it will be raining all weekend so that is a no go! Definitely planning a trip on my next available weekend! Even if it is too cold to lay out or play in the ocean I can still go and smell the salty air and pretend for a minute that the sand is not cold on my feet!
Last year, around the end of March this happened so I hopped in the car and drove that way and spent a few hours in a hoodie, wrapped in a blanket, sitting in a beach chair and just read a book for hours. It was so amazing....there was nobody else around except for a few people every now and then walking their dogs. I just turned my chair away from the wind to help cut the chill as much as possible and sat back and relaxed....the only sounds were my book when I turned the page and the roar of the ocean. Ahhhhhhhhhh.....there is just something about the sand, ocean, and that salty air that soothes the soul!
