Life is About Changing, Nothing Ever Stays the Same.....
"The important thing is this: To be able at any moment to sacrifice what we are for what we could become."
~Charles Dubois
Change....life is all about change - that fact seems to become more real to me each and every day. The problem with change is not learning for me as much as it seems to be unlearning (if that it is even a word!).
I chose the quote from Charles Dubois because this is one of my favorite quotes and those are some of the truest words that I often remind myself of anytime I have feelings of uncertainty about changes in my life. As hard and as doubtful some decisions can be - it is such a great feeling to go into a change knowing that everything is happening in order to create the person that you are to become!!
I think that sometimes if it hurts and doesn’t give us immediate satisfaction that we doubt our decision, but don’t...what is right isn’t always easy. Change is a very scary process but if you know it is right or even if you don’t know but the situation is out of your hands always know that you are growing and who doesn’t want to grow?! :)
As much as in the moment of change we sometimes think that it makes no sense......If we knew then what we know now.....I feel certain that we would keep them all.

How Simple is Simple?
Simplicity-Is this even real-even attainable?
According to Webster--Simplicity is-the state of being simple; uncomplicated, or uncompounded.
Examples of simplicity.... Turning a light on...just 'flip the switch' simple enough! I mean as long as you know where the switch is and you can reach the switch, or don't have your hands full, or have just enough light to see the switch----ok maybe that's not a good example of Webster’s definition, I guess it can be complicated.
Ok 2+2=4, there that's simple; well once you learn the concept of counting and understanding addition it is simple and even then that still doesn't mean all addition problems are so simple. hmmmmmmmm....
I got it!!-Making a bed; oh wait...what if one side is against the wall and you have to use half of your body to hold one side down while the other arm suddenly turns into Stretch Armstrong and you begin pulling and tucking until you decide "it’s good enough" and get off the bed leaving your knee imprints, you could pull a muscle making the bed; so maybe that's not so simple! What about being in a wheelchair and trying to make a bed-fortunately I've never had to but I can imagine it's not too simple! Think about almost any task in a wheel chair doesn't seem quite as simple huh?!
Understanding the opposite gender...hahaha just threw that in to see if you were paying attention! (That's not simple or even possible! I don't even understand other women and I am one, why even try understanding men? But that's a subject for another day! Haha)
Anyway, my point is, nothing is really that simple, yes it may sound simple in the beginning but there are always going to be some type of barriers or obstacles in the way, whether small or big it seems like everything takes steps to get a result, nothing in the beginning, really has the quality of being uncomplicated, uncompounded; simple.
This thought about simplicity comes to me because I find that I often ask myself..."why can't life just be simple, uncomplicated, and just black or white why does it seem like everything has to be so difficult?"
So I decided to think of a few things that I consider simple...washing clothes, eating, cleaning, shutting a door, changing a light bulb, all of these listed take very little mind power to me at this point in my life but there was a point, before I was taught, shown, or explained the process that these now simple, uncomplicated tasks were the complete opposite! But that's just it I can do them now......a compounding of certain steps and the not so simple, suddenly simple!
Now back to my original question -'Is simplicity even real/attainable?' I would have to say yes, it is real...just not as "simple" as it sounds! Things can be simple as long as you can be patient while striving for the simple part that will eventually follow!
So, throughout your day- when that co-worker drives you insane because they just make the most simple task, like making a copy so difficult, or when you get ready to scold your child for spilt milk, or angry at yourself for not being able to figure out something "simple" within minutes-just remember everything builds off of another there is a combination, a complexity to even the smallest of smalls so maybe instead of asking 'why can't life just be simple?' A better question would be, "What steps am I skipping to make this part of my life less complicated and simpler?"
Take Away Today:
~We have all at some point heard the saying, "Making a mountain out of a mole hill" and this seems true...most of the time our mountains really are mole hills, but instead of feeling defeated, giving up, or trying to understand why this mountain in your life can't be simple-we just have to remember how those mole hills ("the simple things") became mole hills! (They were once mountains!!)
~Don’t take simple tasks for granted!

Everyday there is a inspiring quote from science, philosphy....even one from Barbara Bush but you have to wait until March 11 to see what she has to say....the site will not allow you to "peak ahead"!! :)

Fast, Pray, Give - Busted Halo
In the Beginning....
My very FIRST blog!!! I am so excited to start blogging, this is something I have been saying for a few weeks I am going to do (ever since watching "Julie and Julia"--HIGHLY reccommend!) and the time has finally come! Hopefully, if anyone ever reads this they will be interested in some of the things I have to say but, most of all I hope that somehow, in each post something is written that if only for a second, makes you stop, think, and reflect.
I have named this blog -"Thoughts Uncorked" -my reasoning behind this name....when a bottle of wine is uncorked it seems to get people to open up in most situations, this blog is me opening my mind and sharing my thoughts....my thoughts are uncorked!
As I mentioned earlier I have been wanting to start this for a few weeks and with today being the first day of Lent, I had a fantastic idea....it seems fantastic but I am certain within a few hours I may be asking what was I thinking?! I am not Catholic but I love a good challenge/goal so I have decided to give up something for Lent, I am giving up Facebook! This may sound silly to some people but, Facebook for me really is something that takes up and exhuberant amount of my time and energy...I seem to get so consumed with what this person or that person is doing that I lose track of what I should be doing.
This blog is not to "replace" one habit with another...with Facebook I am limited to a 420 character status and believe me, I have alot more to share than that!
I really hope that this is something that I continue to stick with - It will be so great to have a record of my days!
Sooooooo.......here goes nothing!!!!!!!!! :)
