Being Uncomfortable Can Be Comfortable

Comfortable. We sometimes refer to this word when describing a situation that we are at ease with when in reality it is a situation we are the most uneasy of.

For example -
When describing our mediocre career or a relationship, how many times have we heard (or maybe even said)
“I have an 8-5, M-F desk job – yeah it isn’t my dream job but it pays the bills and I’m comfortable there.” Or “Yeah, I know he/she isn’t the right one but it just works, it’s been so long, we just know each other’s routines and it’s easy, we are….comfortable.”

We know that we want more and deserve better yet we don’t go after it because that would not be comfortable/easy. So instead we justify the short comings in our life to meet our standards which have been set lower than they were before life was so "comfortable".

“A man cannot be comfortable without his own approval” ~Mark Twain
This quote really sums it up to me – Next time you go to use this word think about what you are saying….are you really at ease, are you meeting your own approval and standards or adjusting them to meet your comfort level?

If you want a change – go after it….become uncomfortable so that eventually you can realize the true meaning of being comfortable!

xoxo,
Faith
